Global communications agency Burson Cohn & Wolfe has released its International Sports Federations Social Media Ranking for 2019, analyzing the performances of 41 Olympic sports federations across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, Periscope and LinkedIn.<\/p>\n

FIBA remains the most popular account, being in the top three in all major metrics for 2019 and remains as the most popular account compared to all other federations on Facebook with 6.64 million followers.<\/p>\n

The findings of the study, which analyzes the Social Media footprint of 53 Olympic International Federation Instagram profiles,\u00a056\u00a0International Federations on Facebook and 79\u00a0International Federations accounts on Twitter show that FIBA has remained as one of the most followed, active and engaging federations.<\/p>\n

The analysis does not take into account several platforms where FIBA has had success like YouTube, Chinese Social Media networks like WeChat or Weibo or the FIBA Basketball World Cup social media channels.<\/p>\n

The study has not only highlighted that FIBA has remained strong\u00a0on social media over the course of 2019, but that FIBA 3×3 has gained significant momentum over the year, climbing up to third on the ‘Highest Number of Page Likes’ on Facebook.<\/p>\n

FIBA 3×3 made its way to the front with noticeable presence in various categories of the study and has finished first in ‘Most Total Views’, ‘Most Shares’ and ‘Most Interaction per Post’ on Facebook.<\/p>\n

\u201cCategory leader FIBA 3×3 provides high-quality video content with highlights of 3×3 basketball games and off-court stories that are perfectly suited for a young and digital-oriented audience and instigates a lot of interactions.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

FIBA 3×3 social media views more than tripled in 2019. The community also expanded tremendously with 65% more fans on Instagram and 47% on YouTube. Last but not the least, engagement was unprecedented which can be clearly seen in this report.<\/p>\n

Throughout the report FIBA was mentioned for topping the category of Interactions per Post Ranking on Instagram, proving that quality of content and how engaging content is, is much more important than quantity.<\/p>\n
