Virtus Roma withdraws from Italy’s Serie A
The Italian top division is now down to 15 teams
Virtus Roma is withdrawing from the Serie A as team owner Claudio Toti sent a letter to the Italian Basketball Federation and the league announcing his decision.
Virtus started the season in absolute financial uncertainty and with no top sponsor. Players would miss practices and protest due to late payments. The team was 2-7 before Toti decided to retire the team from the league.
The Italian top division is now down to 15 teams nine games into the season.
