Virtus Bologna managing director says he proposed ECA to play EuroCup Final Eight

Baraldi spoke on game against Monaco and losses that will face Virtus from playing behind closed doors

Virtus Bologna managing director Luca Baraldi proposed EuroLeague to play a Final Eight to assign the EuroCup.

Baraldi spoke with Il Resto del Carlino.

EuroCup Quarterfinals against Monaco.

At the moment, the most realistic hypothesis is that the first game will be played on Tuesday 17th in Montecarlo with no more than 1.000 spectators. It is not a good thing for us to play with spectators because there’s a real danger of contamination. The Monegasque authorities would force their team to observe a period of quarantine if they play in Italy even behind closed doors. So they have asked to play the return on neutral court.

EuroCup Final Eight.

We are eight teams left in EuroCup. I proposed EuroLeague to play a Final Eight to assign the Cup but for the moment EuroLeague doesn’t want to change the formula of the competition.

Economic losses.

Every game we play behind closed doors it costs us and the club has to reimburse all the spectators that have already bought the ticket with 150.000 euro more of losses. Realistically it will cost us between 3 and 4 million of euro.
