New Zealand, Korea, Spain, Turkey, USA, Venezuela and Argentina on Sunday became the latest teams to secure their places at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.
This brings to ten the number of teams that have punched their tickets for China 2019 during the fifth window of the Qualifiers. It also means that 17 teams of the first-ever 32-team edition of the World Cup are now known.
In the Americas, USA, Venezuela and Argentina became the first three teams from the region ensure their spots in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019. The FIBA Basketball World Cup defending champions qualified to China 2019 after a 78-70 win over Uruguay. The Argentinians secured their spot at China 2019 following a 85-71 win over Mexico with the presence of over 10,000 fans in the Superdomo of La Rioja. With Uruguay’s loss, Venezuela also secured a spot at China 2019 thanks to a 8-1 record in Group F of the Americas Qualifiers.
