Pallacanestro Reggiana announces the signing of French athlete Stéphane Gombauld for the 2024/2025 season.
205 cm tall, born in 1997 and from Guadeloupe, Gombauld trained at youth level between INSEP and Asvel Villeurbane.
After an experience in Serbia, he finally exploded in Nancy, first winning the A2 series championship as MVP in the 2021/2022 season with 19.5 points and 8.6 rebounds average and then reconfirming in the top league the following season with 13.6 points and 6.5 rebounds.
Last championship Gombauld landed in Italy, also playing in the Basketball Champions League with Banco di Sardegna Sassari: for him 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds average in LBA, with a high of 31 points against Varese on April 21.
These are the words of coach Priftis: “We’re talking about a guy who already knows Serie A. He’ll flank Faye in the number 5 position and I think it’s a well-matched pair: Stéphane is an athletic player, good in the pick and roll and very effective in transition. I think he can mesh well with our outside players and help us out. Of course, we have to work well with the rest of the group to make that happen.
Gombauld said: “I am happy to wear the jersey of Pallacanestro Reggiana next season; I am looking forward to getting to know the staff, the team and especially the fans. I am here to help the team win as many games as possible: to do that I will work hard from day one with my teammates”.
