Three after three, Unics dominated the game and Olimpia succumbed in Kazan 97-71

Messina: Maybe it was a bad night, or the long trip, probably we paid for the many games that Malcolm Delaney had to miss and we asked too much to the other guys, but they were better than us

It was an horrible night, the one Olimpia experienced in Kazan, losing 97-71. Unics dominated the game since the last segment of the first quarter and never looked back. "They were better than us in every aspect of the game. We didn’t have enough energy and we didn’t stand a chance since minute one. During such a long and grueling season everybody has an horrible night and that was our turn. We can’t think too much because we have another game in 48 hours," Coach Ettore Messina said.

Olimpia started relatively well, building a little lead early in the game, but then Kazan shooter got on fire, made six threes and broke the game up. OJ Mayo started with three straight threes and Isaiah Canaan supported him and did even better from that point on. The outside shooters complemented the big work made inside by John Brown. This is why Unics dominated. Kazan Made 14 threes while Olimpia had eight but mostly at the end, the rebounds difference was huge, 38 to 19, and Olimpia couldn’t even get to the line, shooting just five free throws and all in the second half. "Maybe it was a bad night, or the long trip, probably we paid for the many games that Malcolm Delaney had to miss and we asked too much to the other guys, but they were better than us," Coach Messina explained.
