The impact of COVID-19 on basketball contracts and the BAT

The goal is to tackle the topic from different angles

On April 20, 2020, the BAT issued its COVID-19 guidelines. This unprecedented initiative aims to provide greater legal certainty to the basketball community by presenting non-binding principles which may guide BAT Arbitrators in their assessment of particular cases.

We deemed it appropriate to host a (free) webinar to discuss the impact of COVID-19 and said guidelines on basketball contracts and arbitration with the BAT, which will take place on Tuesday May 5, 2020 between 2.00 PM and 3.30 PM CET (cfr enclosed).

The goal is to tackle the topic from different angles. We are delighted to have both FIBA and the BAT represented. Besides, we have an executive from a EuroLeague club as well as an agent who represents players and coaches at all levels throughout the world:

• Benjamin Schindler – Legal Affairs Manager at FIBA

• Heiner Kahlert – Partner at Martens, the entity operating the BAT

• Himar Ojeda Pérez – Sports Director at ALBA BERLIN

• Stefano Meller – Agent at TANGRAM
