Teams registered for FIBA Europe Cup season 2020-21 confirmed

The draw for the 2020-21 FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season will take place in Munich, Germany on Tuesday, August 18.

MUNICH (Germany) – FIBA Europe has announced the participating clubs of this year’s FIBA Europe Cup, ahead of the competition’s draw next week.


A total of 16 teams have had their registration confirmed to play in the FIBA Europe Cup season 2020-21 and up to 11 further clubs could join from the Basketball Champions League Qualifiers, with 20 different National Federations and Leagues represented.


Due to the lower number of registrations than in the past, the competition format for the Regular Season foreseen in the FIBA Europe Cup regulations has been modified to seven groups of three or four teams, with the change approved unanimously by the FIBA Europe Executive Committee.


Subsequently, no qualification will be played and all participating teams will start in the Regular Season.

A total of 12 clubs from the Basketball Champions League Qualifying Rounds have opted in to compete in the FIBA Europe Cup, should they not qualify for the Regular Season of the Basketball Champions League.

*One of the marked clubs will definitely qualify for the Basketball Champions League Regular Season as they are in the same side of the Qualifiers bracket. Should any other club with FIBA Europe Cup opt-in qualify for the Basketball Champions League Regular Season, the spot in the FIBA Europe Cup group will remain empty and the group will become a group of three teams.
