Sig Strasbourg officially announced Massimo Cancellieri
Massimo Cancellieri signs a two-year deal with Sig Strasbourg
There is a changing of the guard among Italians, and former Olimpia Milano members, at Sig Strasbourg. The French club has announced a two-year contract for Massimo Cancellieri, who takes over from Luca Banchi on the bench.
Cancellieri, who was with Olimpia from 2013 to 2019 (for two years under Luca Banchi), came to France in 2021 after two seasons in Ravenna, called up by Limoges.
Here are the words of another Italian, Nicola Alberano, sporting director of the French club: “I am very happy that Massimo has decided to join us. He was the best option to work in continuity with what we have done so far. He knows Betclic ELITE and also has experience on the European stage. He is a coach with a very clear vision of what he wants. I hope he has a real impact on our organization and that we will build together a team that will fight every day and that will meet the expectations of our fans”.
This is what Massimo Cancellieri had to say: “Being the coach of SIG Strasbourg means a lot to me and represents a step forward. I have been following the club and its development for many years and I am excited to be part of this historic club. I come with the desire to demonstrate my passion for basketball and I want it to be reflected in the team’s identity, but also in everyone around the club. I am eager to write a chapter in the history of SIG Strasbourg in which, at the end, I will be able to put my signature. Taking over from Luca is an honor for me. I want to continue the good work he did last season”.
