Serbian center Milutinov out 3 weeks for Olympiacos

Euroleague top rebounder has suffered a partial ligament tear in his right ankle.

One of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague’s top five performers through the first half the regular season, Olympiacos Piraeus center Nikola Milutinov, will miss up to four games with an ankle injury, the club announced.

Milutinov ranks first among EuroLeague rebounders this season with 9.1 per game and is the second-best scorer on Olympiacos, averaging 11.1 points. His 20.9 PIR per game ranks fifth in the competition. Milutinov missed Round 16 with a knee problem but returned in Round 17 to post 11 points and 7 rebounds in his team’s 87-96 home loss to Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.

His new injury is a partial ligament tear in his right ankle, which the club said will sideline Milutinov for three weeks. That span includes a double-round of games in which Olympiacos plays at home on January 14 and 17, respectively, against German opponents ALBA Berlin and FC Bayern Munich. Olympiacos is currently tied with Fenerbahce and Munich for 13th place; all three have 6-11 records.
