Memphis Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama is among the main candidates considered by coach Jenkins to replace the injured Jaren Jackson Jr in the starting five.
On Monday, the 21-year-old Spanish talent scored 21 points with six rebounds and an excellent 4/5 from long range in the preseason game against the Orlando Magic.
“He’s just playing with confidence and operating with confidence every single day he walks in the building,” Jenkins said. “I’m seeing a lot of great things on the defensive side with his activity; offensively with his cutting, shot-making ability, playmaking ability.”
The Grizzlies coach will continue to experiment with different combinations, but Aldama is confident: “I think I’m in the spot I wanted to be in. But like I said, it’s not going to stop here. We got to keep building as a team and myself as an individual.”
