Sant-Roos powers Panathinaikos past Bayern
Panathinaikos OPAP Athens stood firm to hold off FC Bayern Munich and claim an 80-67 home win on Tuesday night
Panathinaikos took early control and held several double-digit leads, including as many as 13 in the third quarter, but Bayern kept fighting and came within 65-64, midway through the fourth. That’s when the Panathinaikos defense stood firm, though, and the Greens pulled clear to win. Howard Sant-Roos propelled Panathinaikos with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals, while Daryl Macon led the scoring with 18 points. Okaro White added 16, Nemanja Nedovic scored 14 and Georgios Papagiannis paired 8 points with 14 rebounds. Bayern was paced by 15 points from Darrun Hilliard, while Augustine Rubit added 13 and DeShaun Thomas scored 12. Panathinaikos improved to 7-17 and Bayern fell to 12-11.
