The New Orleans Pelicans could plan to pursue Kyle Lowry in free agency, according to Marc Stein.

The Pelicans are trying to expedite their timeline of contention around Zion Williamson after taking a step backward following their trade of Jrue Holiday. They could chase a top name in the guard spot since Lonzo Ball’s future in New Orleans is unclear. Lowry enters free agency after the Toronto Raptors decides not to deal him at the trade deadline in March.

Cavs star Kevin Love has not discussed or considered retirement at this point, sources tell the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Love stepped away from Team USA this week due to a lingering calf injury. Former All Star is owed $60 million over the next two seasons and has missed 116 out of a possible 219 games since signing an extension in 2018.

Malik Rose emerges as candidate for NBPA Executive Director job

Former NBA player Malik Rose has emerged, according to Marc Stein, as candidate to replace Michele Roberts as executive director of the National Basketball Players Association. Roberts joined the NBPA in 2014 to replace Billy Hunter.

Rose played in the NBA for 13 seasons and has worked in broadcasting and in different front office capacities since retiring as a player.

Dallas, Miami, San Antonio and Minnesota are among the teams expected to show interest in Collins, believing he could be attainable as a restricted free agent. Atlanta, however, is also expected to push an offer for their player, who averaged 13.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and 35.7 percent 3-point shooting in the playoff.

The Philadelphia 76ers have opened up trade conversations concerning Ben Simmons and have engaged teams, reports The Athletic’s Shams Charania. “(The 76ers) want an All-Star-caliber player in return,” one source with knowledge of the ongoing talks said.

Simmons is under contract through 2025 and interest in him remains high across the league. According to Marc Stein, some teams that have expressed interest in trading for Simmons are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors.

Pelicans to hire Willie Green as new head coach

The New Orleans Pelicans plan on hiring Willie Green as their next head coach. Green and the Pelicans are working through the final stages of the process.

Green has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns. Green was previously an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors for three seasons.

Jeff Weltman, Magic’s President of Basketball Operations, explained that Mosley is considered a ‘rising star’ in the NBA coaching community.
Mosley comes to Orlando after spending the previous seven seasons (2014-21) as assistant coach of Rick Carlisle with the Dallas Mavericks.
