Kevin Durant to sign four-year, $198 million contract extension with Nets

Kevin Durant has agreed to a contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets.
The two-time NBA champion will sign a four-year, $198 million contract with the Nets starting from 2022-2023.
Durant will decline his player option for 2022/2023 and start his new deal.

Per Boardroom, Durant, a two-time NBA champion and Finals MVP as a member of the Golden State Warriors, signed a four-year, $164 million contract with the team on June 30, 2019 as part of a sign-and-trade to Brooklyn just 20 days after rupturing his right Achilles tendon in Game 5 of that summer’s NBA Finals.

Andre Iguodala reveals that he is returning to the Warriors

Andre Iguodala said to Jonathan Abrams of the NY Times that he’s returning to the Golden State Warriors.

“Who would have thought I’d have the opportunity to go back to the place where I was able to have, whatever you want to call it, legacy years, in terms of the accomplishments, winning multiple championships, the relationships that I was able to build with some of my closest friends and teammates? The relationship with the fans, the relationship with the Bay, the opportunity to end it here, was just something special.”

The veteran swingman last year averaged 4.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assist per game for the Miami Heat.

Brooklyn Nets sign 27th overall pick Cam Thomas

The Brooklyn Nets have signed guard Cam Thomas, the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft, to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

Thomas (6’4”, 210) spent one year at LSU, where he appeared in and started 29 games, recording averages of 23.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 34.0 minutes per game.

Willy Hernangomez reportedly signing 3-year deal to stay with Pelicans

Willy Hernangomez has agreed to a 3-year deal to stay with the New Orleans Pelicans, Shams Charania reports.

Last year the spanish big man averaged 7.7 points and 7.1 rebounds in 42 games.

Charlotte Hornets Sign Arnoldas Kulboka and Scottie Lewis To Two-Way Contracts

Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations & General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today that the team has signed both forward Arnoldas Kulboka and guard Scottie Lewis to two-way contracts. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

A 6-10 forward from Lithuania, Kulboka spent last season in the Liga ACB, Spain’s top professional basketball division, with Bilbao Basket where he averaged 9.2 points and 4.0 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game in 33 games.

A sophomore out of Florida, the Hornets drafted Lewis with the No. 56 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after he accrued averages of 7.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 25.5 minutes per game in 21 games during the 2020-21 season.

Pacers Sign Duane Washington Jr., Keifer Sykes, Terry Taylor

The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday they have signed Duane Washington Jr. to a two-way contract. In addition, the team signed Keifer Sykes and Terry Taylor to contracts. Per team policy, the terms of the contracts were not announced.

Washington played three years collegiately at Ohio State and in his junior year averaged 16.4 points per game. He earned All-Big Ten Conference Third Team honors in 2020-21.

 

Sykes was a two-time Horizon League Player of the Year in college at Green Bay. He has played professionally for six years in leagues in Australia, Greece, Spain, China, Italy, Turkey and South Korea.

Taylor completed his four-year collegiate at Austin Peay in 2020-21. He was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year twice after his junior and senior seasons and graduated as Austin Peay’s all-time leading scorer (2,488 points).

Khem Birch agrees to three-year, $20M deal to return to Raptors

Khem Birch reached an agreement on a three-year, $20M deal to stay with the Toronto Raptors, Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

The big man played 19 games for the Raptors last season, averaging 12 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocks.

Masai Ujiri reaches new agreement with Raptors

Masai Ujiri will remain in Toronto.

Per ESPN, Masai Ujiri, the architect of the franchise’s 2019 NBA championship team, has agreed to a significant new deal to become vice chairman and president of the Toronto Raptors, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

His previous title was president.

After arriving in Toronto in 2013 as general manager, Ujiri has established himself as one of the most prominent, successful and sought-after executives in professional sports. In the final year and months of his expiring contract, Ujiri turned back overtures from several pro sports organizations beyond the NBA, sources said.

D’Antoni completed a season on Steve Nash’s Brooklyn staff as a full-time assistant before stepping down recently. D’Antoni will periodically spend time with Pelicans’ coaching staff through summer league, training camp and season, per sources.

Knicks reportedly interested in Dennis Schröder

The New York Knicks have $8 million remaining in cap space and have interest in Dennis Schröder, reports Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Schröder began the free agency process seeking a deal that would start at $25 million per season. The Lakers offered Schröder an extension during the season and then pivoted to other plans this offseason.
