Olimpia Milano, Melli: “I will always be grateful to the owners and to Ettore Messina”
Nicolò Melli spoke about his farewell to Olimpia Milano and expressed his gratitude to the club.
Nicolò Melli, captain of Italbasket and now playing for Fenerbahce, gave an exclusive interview to Sky Sport. These are his statements.
On signing with Fenerbahce: “I am very happy to come back to a place where I was good. They wanted me very much, so I am very happy and very charged for this new old adventure”.
On leaving Olimpia Milano “It was definitely a period of change, so many things happened in a very short time. The farewell was a bit hasty, but that does not take away from the fact that I spent three wonderful years in Milan. I will always be grateful to the owners, to Ettore, for bringing me back to Milan and making me captain. But I was captain of three consecutive championships, I played with extraordinary teammates, I was in a great organization”.
On the Milan adventure: “The last week certainly does not erase three intense years, certainly with many lows, but also highs and above all with three championships, with three satisfactions in a city like Milan, which, as I said and as I wrote, I love. The last week was a bit stormy, but it doesn’t erase three years, it doesn’t erase the gratitude towards the people who allowed me to live this adventure”.
On the end of the marriage with Olimpia: “I tend to point that out because it seemed like I was the one closing a door or something. As I said, it was all a bit fast, but that’s part of the game and it’s okay, I repeat, it certainly doesn’t erase the three wonderful years I had in Milan”.
