Olimpia finished the job in Cagliari, prevailing 81-78 over Venezia
Kevin Punter was the top scorer of the friendly game with 19 points
Olimpia took the win over Venezia 81-78 and consequently won the Cagliari preseason torunament for the second consecutive year. Just like the night before when it prevailed over Sassari, Olimpia had to play a serious game. Thanks to a 25-point second quarter took control of it and led by as many as 14 points early in the third, but then in its second game over a 24-hour span struggled to convert offensively and allowed Venezia to come back. In the end, Olimpia had to extend its job, winning the game after an overtime. Kevin Punter made the crucial points late in the game, and led the scorers with 19 points. Coach Messina distributed the playing time among 14 players, changed the starting line-up and made a lot of substitutions. Now, Olimpia is going to prepare for its first real game, in the Supercup, next Thursday against Cantù in Mediolanum Forum.
