Virtus goes down at the end of a nail-biter thanks to former Heat guard, who proves decisive in the 81-79 road win

Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens maintained its top-four chances by winning a thriller at Virtus Segafredo Bologna, 79-81, thanks to a floater at the final buzzer from Kendrick Nunn. The Greek giant stays on track to secure home-court advantage in the playoffs by improving to 21-11, while the last-second loss condemned Virtus to five consecutive defeats and a 17-15 record.

The Greens took early control and led by double digits for a long time before Virtus responded in the second half, pulling back to set up a big finale as the lead went back and forth in the final few minutes.

With the game tied, Iffe Lundberg’s missed three-pointer gave Panathinaikos the last possession, and Nunn took that chance by dribbling to the free-throw line and releasing a floater that took a couple of hops off the rim before dropping in.

Panathinaikos’s backcourt trio made the difference, with Kostas Sloukas scoring 20 points, Nunn adding 16 and Jerian Grant providing 13 points. Virtus was led by its veterans, with Toko Shengelia scoring 19 points and Marco Belinelli adding 17.
