Zion Williamson’s big night ended with a left leg injury during the final minutes of the play-in against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The injury occurred with only 3:13 left in the game, just as the New Orleans Pelicans were attempting a comeback. Williamson had already accumulated 40 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists, tying the game at 95-95 with a layup.
After a timeout called by Lakers coach Darvin Ham, Zion, visibly shaken, made his way to the bench, threw a towel, and walked down the tunnel, effectively ending his game.
Pelicans coach Willie Green reported that Williamson is suffering from pain in his left leg and will undergo further diagnostic tests in the coming hours. There is talk of a hamstring problem.
