New Orleans Pelicans, no renewal for Valanciunas?
The New Orleans Pelicans seem to have no plans to renew Valanciunas’ contract: will he be a prized piece in free agency?
According to a report by Mike Scotto, the New Orleans Pelicans do not seem to be inclined to extend the contract of Jonas Valanciunas. The Lithuanian center would be one of the most prized pieces of the upcoming NBA free agency, as he has shown that he is still capable of playing at a high level. At 32, Valanciunas averaged 12.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
The Pelicans, according to the reporter’s report on Hoopshype, would be geared towards prioritizing spacing around Zion Williamson, likely wanting to keep the area as free as possible to give their superstar room to move near the basket.
