NCAA considered playing 16-teams tournament before cancelling March Madness
The NCAA has no plans to release an official bracket for the cancelled season.
NCAA vice president of men’s basketball Dan Gavitt told AP they brainstormed ways to play an abbreviated NCAA tournament.
Organizers scrambled to devise a plan for a 16-team event over one long weekend in Atlanta, which is the city where the Final Four was scheduled to be held: "We did spend a significant amount of time very late Wednesday night trying to figure out alternative models,” Gavitt said Friday.
NCAA media coordinator David Warlock has later added that they have no plans to reveal the official 68-team bracket following the cancellation of this year’s tournament.
