NBA would need around 15,000 COVID-19 tests to finish season
A possibility could be the completion of both NBA and WNBA season in Las Vegas.
The NBA expects that it will need around 15,000 COVID-19 tests to finish out the season, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Adam Silver publicly and privately stated that the league could not take up that amount of tests to resume the season if public demand had yet to be met. Several manufacturers can assure the NBA of that amount of tests, but cannot guarantee that public demand will have been met.
According to the New York Times’ Kevin Draper, MGM Resorts International, the company which owns stakes in several Las Vegas hotels, has pitched the NBA and WNBA on a plan to quarantine off a block in Vegas so both leagues could finish their season. The campus centers around the Mandalay Bay resort, which features 4700 rooms connected through the Mandalay Bay, the Four Seasons, and the Delano.
