NBA will not test players for marijuana during the 2020-21 season
League had already decided to not test players for marijuana during the Orlando bubble.
The NBA will not test players for marijuana during the 2020-21 season, maintaining a decision already taken during the restart in Orlando last summer. The league, however, will test for cause with past offenders or those who have given reasonable cause to suspect use.
While the decision is largely rooted in limiting unnecessary contacts during COVID-19, there is a significant expectation that the testing program will be phased out altogether in the near future.
