NBA, TV rights negotiations begin: Disney and TNT want renewal
The NBA has begun negotiations for TV rights: the current agreement with Disney and TNT will expire at the end of the 2024/2025 season.
The NBA has begun negotiations for television rights as the deal signed in 2014 with Disney and TNT expires in one year, at the end of the 2024/2025 season. According to Sports Business Journal’s Tom Friend reports, Disney (ABC/ESPN) and TNT would like to extend the deal by including exclusivity for the Emirates NBA Cup. NBA executives believe the new rights package will be valued between $60 billion and $72 billion, an estimate at least 2.5 times higher than the current deal.
Negotiations for NBA media rights are expected to conclude between June and July.
