Nando De Colo: The next contract will probably also be the last of my career

Nando De Colo, in an interview with euroleague-france.com, said he wanted to ‘do everything possible to participate in the adventure’ of the Paris Olympic Games, in what he called his ‘last experience’.

“I know that today what I have to bring to the team is the experience of the three Olympic experiences I played for the Blues. There is a huge amount of talent among the French players. Victor (Wembanyama) is coming in and will occupy a lot of space on and off the pitch. There will be things to sort out. Ultimately, what we want is for the French team to perform well.

[…] If the Olympics had not been in France, I might have hung up my boots earlier. But I think I am still able to help the team’.

And at club level: ‘I don’t know yet, it will mainly depend on physical and mental fitness. It’s a question of whether I want to continue or not and whether I can still contribute to a team. Whatever happens, I’m someone who wants to stay in basketball. So, the day my career ends, I will also try to find a project that interests me. When you reach the end of your career, you have to take one year at a time and see how it develops. Tomorrow I might even sign for five years somewhere and say ‘let’s see what happens year by year’.

The only thing I know for sure is that this summer with the French team will be my last summer. I will do everything I can to be part of it and to make it a great adventure. For the rest, the next contract will probably also be the last of my career, but to be honest I haven’t thought about it that much.
