Milwaukee Bucks: Lillard without Antetokounmpo? Averages rise significantly
Milwaukee Bucks: do Lillard and Antetokounmpo struggle to coexist? Without the Greek by his side, point-guard averages rise significantly
In Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks have one of the best, if not the best, duo in the NBA. However, the season for Doc Rivers’ team has been more complicated than expected, especially in terms of team chemistry. Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo are still struggling to find each other and play together, and often end up playing a basketball that “excludes” the other superstar from the offensive plans.
In fact, Damian Lillard’s averages go up considerably when the Greek is absent: from 24.4 points on average in the season, without Giannis at his side his offensive production rises to 31.5 points per game, while assists also rise from 7.0 to 9.5 on average without Antetokounmpo at his side. The former Portland Trail Blazer also shoots better from the field when the Greek is not at his side, going from 35.4 percent from three-point range to 41 percent, and from 42.5 percent from the field to 48 percent.
Undoubtedly, the Milwaukee Bucks will have to find a way to involve both of their offensive superstars during the NBA playoffs to try to triumph and win the title, as defenses will increase considerably.
