Mike Hall: “I played professional basketball for months on a torn meniscus”

He was not aware of the injury until today. Italian doctors had told him he just needed 'a little ice and rest'

Veteran power forward Mike Hall revealed he played this past season in Italy on a torn meniscus — and that he was not aware of it until he met with his American doctor after the season ended.

“I saw more Italian doctors, trainers, and specialists than I can count,” Hall tweeted. “I was told I’m ‘too old’, had a ‘light sprain’, and just needed ‘a little ice and rest’.”

“I just came from my American doctor and I have a torn meniscus. I PLAYED PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL FOR MONTHS ON A TORN MENISCUS. Every Italian doctor (employed by the teams) gave me Tylenol, ice, and a pat on the back to get back on the court.”

Hall played for Ferrara and Cassino in the Italian Serie A2 this past season, averaging a double-double 12.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per game despite the serious injury.
