The LA Clippers’ General Manager, Michael Winger, has agreed to become the president of Monumental Basketball, taking full control of the Washington Wizards, according to ESPN reports.
In addition to his role with the Wizards, Winger will also oversee operations of the Washington Mystics of the WNBA and the Go-Go team in the G-League.
Monumental’s owner, Ted Leonsis, has reportedly given Winger full authority to steer the future course of the Wizards. This includes hiring a GM-level basketball executive to lead team decisions. Wes Unseld Jr., the team’s coach, is expected to return for his third year under Winger’s leadership.
