Miami Heat big man Meyers Leonard decides to stand for US anthem

Heat player has linked his decision to his support for the military.

Miami Heat big man Meyers Leonard became the second NBA player to stand for the US national anthem after Orlando’s Jonathan Isaac. Leonard, however, decided to wear a Black Lives Matter t-shirt.

Heat player told AP’s Tim Reynolds why he opted to stand during the national anthem: "Some of the conversations I’ve had over the past three days have been the most difficult. I am with the Black Lives Matter movement and I love and support the military and my brother and the people who have fought to defend our rights in this country".
