Oded Kattash, who signed last summer with the club, will coach Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv again next season. The head coach, returning for his second stint on the sidelines of the club, managed to assemble the ever-changing squad in yellow and blue during the season. He led the Maccabees to the Euroleague playoffs with the best home record in the competition and to a stone’s throw from the European Final Four. In the local league, he led the team to first place at the end of the regular season and secured home-court advantage.
“I am grateful to the owners and management for their vote of confidence in me,” said Oded Kattash. “I am very happy to continue the special journey we started together. I will do everything to fulfill the club’s goals together and a word to the fans – continue to be what you are for us and let’s continue to be excited together.”
“I am happy and proud that Oded will coach the team next season. We started a process here this year and continuity is the keyword,” said Avi Even, who took up the position of sports director. “The team progressed and connected under Oded and the staff as the season progressed, as did the players on a personal level. He deserves a lot of credit for this.”
“I have known and appreciated Oded for many years, from the days he wore the club’s uniform as a prominent player,” summed up the club’s chairman, attorney Shimon Mizrahi. “We are at the end of the 2022/23 basketball season, after the fascinating series in the Euroleague quarter-finals against Monaco, where Oded is the one who holds the coach’s baton, and towards the playoff games in the Winner’s League as well as looking to next season. There is no one more fitting than Oded to continue and be the coach of the team even next season, in order to create continuity in the coaching position and at the same time in the squad of players.”
