Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv has announced the signing of Rokas Jokubaitis for the next three seasons. The young Lithuanian point guard, 23 years old and 1.93 metres tall, arrives from Barcelona with solid experience in the Euroleague, having played six seasons in Europe’s top competition and three in the Spanish La Liga.
Jokubaitis told the club’s official website: ‘I am very happy and looking forward to playing in front of one of the best audiences in Europe. Thanks to the technical staff, the management and the whole club for the trust placed in me’.
Maccabi coach Oded Kattash expressed satisfaction with the acquisition, emphasising that Jokubaitis has already accumulated considerable experience in the Euroleague and the Lithuanian national team, and that he will be a key element in achieving the club’s goals. Sports director Avi Even added that the young player has great potential for growth and a personality that fits perfectly with Maccabi’s DNA.
Jokubaitis was born in Mažeikiai, Lithuania, and grew up in the youth sector of Zalgiris Kaunas. He played for the Zalgiris first team from 2019 to 2021, winning three Lithuanian championships and two national cups, before moving to Barcelona. Despite his young age, he already boasts 165 Euroleague appearances, averaging 5.7 points and 2.9 assists per game last season.
