Maccabi Tel Aviv freezes players’ contracts until Euroleague and ELPA reach an agreement

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Chairman Shimon Mizrahi sent a letter to all players and announced that contracts are suspended until an agreement is reached between the Euroleague and the ELPA, Roi Cohen reports.

Maccabi Tel Aviv chairman Shimon Mizrahi sent a letter to all players this week announcing that all contracts have been frozen, until the talks  on the payment cut between the Euroleague and the players’ organization will be completed.


On the team situation he wrote: “We have a commitment and responsibility towards our beloved club and we must take all possible steps to ensure the future of the club … As you all know, talks between the Euroleague and the players’ organization are held, and therefore, until a new announcement and a solution come, all the contracts are frozen. We are sorry that we have to take this extreme step, but this situation isn’t a fault of either party. It’s just s a frustrating situation”.
