Luis Scola was introduced as new player of AX Armani Exchange Milano.

The Argentinean power forward signed a deal for the season with the Italian powerhouse and he is expected to make his debut on Thursday in EuroLeague against Bayern Munich.

“I am happy to be here. It will be a fun challenge” Scola said. “Euroleague? I don’t know what to expect. The league growed tremendously and it’s closer to the NBA” he added. “I spoke with Prigioni and Manu Ginobili. They both know Messina: how he coaches and competes. They helped me in this choice. Coach Messina called me before the World Cup” the former NBA continued. ““I’m at the end of my career, this is a challenge for me: living in a different country, playing for coach Ettore Messina and being on the EuroLeague court again”.

Argentina won the silver medal at FIBA Basketball World Cup and directly qualified for Tokyo 2020.

On this topic, Scola made a revelation:

“If we had not qualified for the Olympics, I would surely have retired” Scola said talking also proposals from Real Madrid and Boca Juniors. “Playing back in Argentina would have been thrilling. Within the European options, Milan was the best one for me!”
