Luguentz Dort is starting for OKC Thunder… but not practicing with team

The two-way player can spend only 45 days in the NBA and the Thunder want to maximize his number of games

Luguentz Dort has earned himself a spot in the starting lineup with the Oklahoma City Thunder… even though he hasn’t been practicing with the team.

The rookie guard is on a two-way contract which gives him a maximum of 45 days to spend in the NBA. The Thunder want to maximize his number of games, so they’re not bringing him in for practice days.

“You’ve got to watch a lot of film with him,” coach Billy Donovan said on how to keeping Dort on the same page despite missing practices (h/t The Oklahoman). “You’ve got to catch him up. He’s got to certainly watch and spectate. All those things become important, following the rules in terms of how we can best keep him engaged to what’s going on and what we’re doing.”
