The London Lions have reacted to injury by grabbing point guard, Stephen Brown at the deadline for Basketball Champions League registration.

With young GB guard, Jules Dang-Akodo struggling to clear up a knock on his knee, Coach Vince Macaulay secured Brown from the German BBL last term.

The American graduated from Bucknell University with impressive numbers of 15 points and 4.3 assists per game, but the 5’11" speedster brings a different dimension to the Lions back court. He made the Patriot League All Defensive team for three years, and the All-Tournament MVP in 2018. Last term he maintained his production at 13.3 points and 5.2 assists a game for Giessen 46ers in the Bundesliga,

Brown was happy to join up with the Lions’ squad, "I’m excited to be here and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a great organisation. From the coaching staff to the players. They all have been very welcoming and have done an excellent job of helping me get settled into the team in such a short time. I understand the importance of the upcoming games, so I’m looking forward to them and will put forth my best efforts to help the team move forward."

Lions’ Head Coach, Vince Macaulay added, "Jules was a serious doubt, and having played in Denmark without three of our point guards we didn’t want to risk anything in such a big game, Stephen was highly recommended to me, he is a very upstanding young man and his game is electric, unfortunately he is unlikely to play in BBL games as we can’t rotate non-national players, but hopefully we progress and fans can get to see him in the flesh."

The Lions’ Qualifier against Neptunas Klaipeda is on the 22nd of September and should the Lions be victorious, the next game is on the 24th. There will be an announcement shortly as to where fans can watch the game live on broadcast, following discussions with the hosts and FIBA which continue.
