Latvian basketball player Janis Timma has been found dead in central Moscow
Latvian basketball player Janis Timma has been found dead in central Moscow. According to TASS, authorities believe it was a suicide. The body was discovered at the entrance of a residential building in the Russian capital, with a phone nearby that reportedly contained a farewell message.
Timma, also known in Russia and Ukraine as the ex-husband of singer Anna Sedokova, had experienced difficult years after his break-up with the artist. Despite attempts at reconciliation, the marriage had ended in divorce, an event that would deeply scar the player. On his phone, reports the Telegram channel Shot, Sedokova’s number was visible with a request to contact her.
Janis Timma, born in 1992, after a long career around Europe had played his last match in May with Obradoiro and in July with Latvia. It is unclear how or why he had returned to Moscow, but sources on social media suggest that Timma had flown to Russia to attempt a final reconciliation with his ex-wife. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating all hypotheses surrounding his death.
