Kyle Hines, the American walking record is going to appear in his ninth Final Four
Hines is the first American ever for EuroLeague championships won, Final Four appearances, EuroLeague games played, rebounds grabbed and now also points scored
American players hardly appear in the All-time EuroLeague rankings. The reason is quite obvious: unlike their European counterparts, they don’t make their debut around the age of 20 and, thereafter, they can find a spot in such high-level teams only as long as they maintain a huge performance standard. A European player, even by rules, can remain on a top team even when he starts to decline. No American have this luxury. That’s why Kyle Hines’ longevity records are impressive. Hines is the first American ever for EuroLeague championships won, Final Four appearances, EuroLeague games played, rebounds grabbed and now also points scored. Hines has never been a scorer, but no American has scored as many points as he has.
During the Bayern series, Hines overtook Marcus Brown, who was a guard, a scorer and played for CSKA as he did, to climb at the top of the Americans scoring list. Behind him are Mike James, Jaycee Carroll and Mike Batiste. Only the latter was a big man, another legendary player. But Batiste was a power forward and an excellent mid-range shooter. Hines scored 2,744 before playing the ninth Final Four of his career, with the third different team: only the Australian David Andersen did better and reached it with four different teams. Hines has played two Final Fours with Olympiacos and six more with CSKA Moscow. Only one player has played more games: his former Russian teammate, Viktor Khryapa.
Here the video-interview that EuroLeague has dedicated to him.
