Kristaps Porzingis returned to the court for Game 5 of the NBA Finals, despite a rare left leg injury that will require surgery and a recovery process of a few months. After missing Games 3 and 4, Porzingis played 16 minutes in the Boston Celtics’ decisive 106-88 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, scoring 5 points. This helped the Celtics claim their record-setting 18th NBA championship.

Porzingis told ESPN: “I wanted to give everything I could and then fix the injury afterward if necessary. I prepared myself as best as I could to be on the court, and the medical staff’s support was incredible. It feels great to be a champion.” Despite the risks associated with his injury, he stated: “I don’t care. I will fix it. This is the most important thing, and after the healing process, it will be totally worth it.”
