FIBA Europe announced a change of venue for the FIBA U18 European Championship 2020, with Konya, Turkey confirmed as the new host for the summer’s event, set to take place from July 25 – August 2, 2020.
The FIBA Europe Executive Committee unanimously supported the request of the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) to move the event from Bursa to Konya.
The tournament will also serve as Europe’s qualifier for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2021, with the top five finishers booking their tickets for the global event.
The 16 teams qualified to compete in Konya are the hosts Turkey, reigning champions Spain, as well as Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Slovenia.
