Kobe Bryant pilot was warned ‘you’re too low’ moments before crash in fog

'Too low' instead means an air traffic controller is no longer able to provide guidance because it cannot get a good enough read of the radar.

A Sikorsky S-76B Helicopter (N72EX) performing flight from Santa Ana KSNA

was transitioning to the west of Van Nuys KVNY along the 101 Freeway in very marginal weather when suddenly crashed in the area of Calabasas.

All 9 onboard have reportedly perished – the five-time NBA Champion Kobe Bryant and his daughter were passengers of that flight.

Per The Sun, Conditions on Sunday were a problem with limited visibility due to heavy fog in southern California, and the pilot is heard talking with air traffic controllers about this in the audio.

“You’re too low,” the pilot was told just before the crash.

That does not mean the helicopter was actually too low or near the ground, in fact it was ascending at the time of this warning.

‘Too low’ instead means an air traffic controller is no longer able to provide guidance because it cannot get a good enough read of the radar.
