According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, the New York Knicks are weighing Kristaps Porzingis’ future with the team. The Latvian big man will be a restricted free agent next summer but some around the league believe that the Knicks won’t offer him a max deal right away. After his knee injury, in fact, Knicks would like to have some kind of insurance on his future and will try to negotiate a contract with some not guaranteed money, similar to the one that Joel Embiid signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Of course, as a restricted free agent, Porzingis may decide to sign an offer sheet with another team and Bondy adds in his piece that the Brooklyn Nets are high on the player and they have a history of offering big-time money to RFAs.
