Turgay Demirel: 'This new format with four host cities it's working, it's a big success with a lot of fans in the arenas. Bodiroga? We are confident and want to cooperate'

It’s time for the event recap press conference in Berlin, to close this 2022 EuroBasket.

FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel: “This new format with four host cities it’s working, it’s a big success with a lot of fans in the arenas. The level of the tournament it’s really high, has grow a lot, so many NBA stars that maybe are more interested to join now, thanks to the new format playing every four years. Bodiroga? I have congratulated with Dejan for his new role, he is a legend of the European basketball. Now his priority is the Euroleague but we will get in touch with him soon, we are confident and want collaborate, we are now more optimistc for the future of our basketball”.

FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak: “A really competitive tournament, FIBA windows are working and helping a lot, because they are giving a big opportunity to the teams and to the players to grow up and to be preperated for this championship. The referees are evaluated before and during all the torunament, obviously they can make mistakes, what happens in Lithuania vs Germany it was a big mistake, a failure and something that will never have to happen again. The complaints about the referees? It’s always like this, it’s part of the championship, I remember the same level of complaints in EuroBasket 2015. Maybe the big difference is that now the role of media has grown a lot and it’s more influential’.
