Jason Kidd: Now Luka Doncic has a team that he believes in
The Mavs will face in the Western Conference Finals the winner of Game 7 between the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves
The Dallas Mavs return to the Western Conference Finals thanks to the 4-2 success in the series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In the postgame Jason Kidd had some important words for Luka Doncic, who scored his third consecutive triple-double in a crucial Game 6.
“He’s one of the best players in the world, but sometimes we lose sight that it’s not just built [around Doncic],” Mavs coach Jason Kidd said. “One guy can’t get you there. You need a team. Right now, he’s got a team that he believes in.”
Kidd points to the Slovenian phenom’s decision-making on the decisive play as an example of his greatness.
“Luka could have easily taken a difficult shot, but he saw P.J. free and made the right decision….He could have easily attempted his step-back and shot over the two guys. Even with a mistake, we would have said it was a good shot. But Luka is playing the right way and at a high level.”
