Ironi Ness Ziona have been crowned as the new FIBA Europe Cup champions after beating Arged BMSLAM Stal to capture their first piece of silverware in a European club competition in the Final on Sunday.

Defense paved the way in the final quarter for the Final Four hosts as Ness Ziona came out on top for an 82-74 victory behind 21 points from Nimrod Levi, while Jerome Meyinsse produced a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Wayne Selden was named Final Four MVP after backing up his Semi-Final heroics for the Israeli club with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists in their Final triumph.

Ironi Ness Ziona are the first winners of the competition from Israel, joining teams from Italy (Dinamo Sassari – 2019, Umana Reyer Venezia – 2018); France (Nanterre 92 – 2017) and Germany (Fraport Skyliners – 2016).

Arged BMSLAM Stal had been bidding to become the first team to win the competition without a loss en route to the title.

Earlier in the day, CSM CSU Oradea secured Third place as they beat BC Parma 85-76 with Aaron Broussard and Giordan Watson combining for 41 points in the win.

With the 2020-21 campaign organized in single venue hubs to ensure the health and safety of all participants, this year’s event marked the first time a Final Four was held to conclude the season since the inaugural edition in 2016.

The event was attended by FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis and FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak, among other dignitaries.
