Hapoel Holon to Host European Tournament Games in Riga Amid Security Concerns

The complex security situation continues to impact Israeli teams, particularly those participating in European competitions. Today (Monday), FIBA announced the postponement of the game between Hapoel Holon and Bursaspor in Turkey, due to “security concerns”. Additionally, it appears that the team will soon receive final approval to host its tournament games in Riga, Latvia.


The game was scheduled for this coming Wednesday, but following the decision, it is expected to take place on November 29, according to the official announcement of the tournament. Incidentally, the day before, Hapoel Jerusalem will play against Galatasaray, also on Turkish soil.


“The decision to postpone the game was taken due to security concerns,” it was written, “Bursaspor and the Turkish Basketball Federation emphasized the issue and the Basketball Champions League wants to ensure the safety of its players.”
