Groups set for FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Pre-Qualifiers First Round
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Pre-Qualifiers First Round will be played across three windows on February 2024, November 2024 and February 2025
Teams participating in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers First Round now know their opponents after Tuesday’s draw in Munich, Germany.
The 10 nations were split into three groups – one consisting of four teams and the other two both with three teams.
The groups for the First Round are as follows:
Group A: Switzerland; Kosovo; Ireland; Azerbaijan
Group B: Romania; Luxembourg; Norway
Group C: Austria; Armenia; Albania
Teams were seeded for the draw based on the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by Nike, while Armenia and Azerbaijan could not be drawn into the same group, as per the decision of the Board of FIBA Europe.
The three group winners alongside the best-ranked second placed team will advance to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Pre-Qualifiers Second Round – which is scheduled to be played in the summer of 2025.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Pre-Qualifiers First Round will be played across three windows on February 19-27, 2024, November 18-26, 2024 and February 17-25, 2025 with two gamedays in every window.
