George Conditt IV officially signs with Dreamland Gran Canaria
Dreamland Gran Canaria announces the arrival of center George Conditt IV: he played against Italy in the pre-Olympic tournament.
Dreamland Gran Canaria has acquired the services of George Conditt IV (Chicago, United States, 2000), a 2.11-meter center, to strengthen the Jaka Lakovic-coached team’s inside game next season.
Born in Chicago but of Puerto Rican descent, Conditt IV had several offers after his high school years. He eventually played for Iowa State University for four years, playing alongside players such as NBA player Tyrese Haliburton. In his final year in the NCAA, he helped the team reach the Sweet Sixteen of the college tournament.
In the 21-22 academic year he made his professional debut in the Puerto Rican league with the Carolina Giants, scoring 11.3 points and collecting 7.2 rebounds in 24 games. In the summer of 2022 he made the jump to Europe with Promitheas Patras, a team with which he played in Greek competition and the EuroCup. In the Greek league, Conditt IV averaged 9.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals, making him the best rated player on his team at only 21 years old. At the end of that season, he returned to Puerto Rican basketball to help the Carolina Giants become the country’s champions for the first time.
He spent the 23-24 season with the Rip City Remix of the G League and the Carolina Giants. In the U.S., he was coached by Clarence legend Jim Moran, averaging 13.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals. At home he earned the league’s best defensive player award, averaging 14.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.1 stoppages per game.
A physical and energetic player, he has played for Puerto Rico since his youth. He participated in the 2023 World Cup, averaging 11.4 points and 7.2 rebounds in five games. Recently, he was one of the most important men on the Puerto Rican team in the feat of getting a ticket to the Olympic Games, beating Lithuania in the Pre-Olympic.
