EuroCup Top 16 Round 2 MVP: Jamel McLean, Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar

Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar registered its first Top 16 win with a commanding 69-92 road success against Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt that was led by forward Jamel McLean, whose performance index rating of 31 earned him the Top 16 Round 2 MVP honor. McLean lifted Lokomotiv to victory with 19 points – missing only his final shot – while collecting a career-best 4 steals, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 7 drawn fouls in just 22 minutes. His PIR of 31 tied his own 7DAYS EuroCup career high and allowed him to earn the MVP honor for the first time. Following McLean was Valencia Basket big man Bojan Dubljevic, with a PIR of 26. Dubljevic led his team to a 75-79 road win over Limoges CSP with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal. The week’s third-best performance belonged to Mathias Lessort of Unicaja Malaga, whose PIR of 25 marked his best EuroCup game to date and helped his team beat visiting Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade 79-74. The top five performances of the week were completed by Cedevita Zagreb’s Justin Cobbs with a PIR of 24 and Zenit St Petersburg’s Jalen Reynolds with 22 in the same game, won by Zenit 98-84.



Individual highs: Stratos Perperoglou, Zvezda, 23 points
Stratos Perperoglou of Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade was the top scorer of Round 2 with his 23 points, a EuroCup career best for him. Diante Garrett of eliminated Tofas Bursa is still the best scorer overall with 18.4 points per game. Under the boards, Dubljevic’s 12 rebounds were the best mark this week, but Reynolds leads all players with his 8.5 per game. Alex Renfroe led Partizan NIS Belgrade to an important home win with 12 assists, the best mark of the round. Joe Ragland of Zvezda leads in the season-long rankings with 6.4 assists in 12 games. On the defensive end, McLean’s career-best 4 steals were the best total in Top 16 Round 2. ratiopharm Ulm’s Javonte Green still leads the season rankings with 2.6 steals per game. Finally, under the boards, Bogdan Radosavljevic of Ulm had 3 blocks, the most this week. Leading the season rankings are two players from eliminated teams: Robert Upshaw of Arka Gdynia and Uros Lukovic of Mornar Bar, each with 1.7 rejections per game.
