Anthony Cowan of Promitheas Patras has earned MVP of the Round honors in Round 16 of the 2022-23 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season after finishing with a career-high 34 PIR in his team’s 89-93 road win at the London Lions.


The 25-year-old Cowan enjoyed a career night at Copper Box Arena, setting new personal highs en route to a 26-point, 11-assist double-double, his first in 16 EuroCup appearances. Although Cowan was a modest 2-of-6 from two-point range, he was particularly effective from three-point land and the free-throw line, going 5-of-7 and 7-of-8, respectively. After reaching the 11-assist mark in the third quarter, Cowan scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to ensure that his team left with the victory. On the night, he also grabbed 4 rebounds, had 2 steals and drew 6 fouls.


The second-highest PIR in Round 16 belongs to Jeremy Evans of Paris Basketball, as he had a PIR of 33 in his side’s 89-85 triumph against Slask Wroclaw. Evans led an undermanned Paris side on the night, recording an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double, along with 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks and 4 fouls drawn. Jayson Granger of Umana Reyer Venice rounds out the top three after recording a 29 PIR as his side’s 73-89 win at Frutti Extra Bursaspor. The guard scored 18 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, provided 8 assists, had 1 steal and was fouled 8 times. D.J. Stephens recorded a PIR of 28, the fourth highest in Round 16, as Prometey Slobozhanske downed Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse 96-82. The high-flying Stephens had 28 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Completing the top five is Jerian Grant of Turk Telekom Ankara, with the guard amassing 23 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in his side’s 89-79 loss at Gran Canaria.
