Tavares, Sergio Rodríguez and Hezonja analysed the team’s victory against Barça in the semi-finals of the EuroLeague Final Four.
Tavares, who was instrumental with a 39 in PIR, said: “We knew we were going to have to dig deep and we managed to cope with the tough patches. The key was to stay in the game. We controlled the rebounding against a side that exploits that greatly. We’ve been preparing all year to be the best we can be at this point. It’s going to be tough against Olympiacos, but we’re going to be fighting for it.”
“I tried to push myself as hard as possible, because Barça have great players. So I tried to stay focused, be consistent and keep driving until the end. I had more responsibility today because Poirier, who is one of the best centres in Europe, wasn’t there. I had to fill in for him, like he does when I’m not there.”
Sergio Rodríguez: “We have to keep it going”
“We have momentum on our side. We have to keep it going, rest today, and be ready for the final. It feels great, for me and for the team. We were very stretched in the squad and everyone has stepped up.”
Hezonja: “We’re all ready for these final moments of the season”
“We had to be prepared for this battle and we have been fighting all year long. Our strength allowed us to win today. We’re all ready for these final moments of the season. We have to be even more prepared against Olympiacos because they are tough and they finished first in the league. We have to be mentally strong.”
