Dubai BC, Dejan Kamenasevic: “We will be competitive in the ABA League, but with a modest budget”

Dubai BC, entry into the ABA League is a known fact: Kamenasevic’s words on the budget and where they will play their home games.

Dubai BC’s entry into the ABA League is now a matter of common knowledge, but it was the team’s executives who shed light on many issues by holding a press conference. These are the words of Dejan Kamenasevic, the club’s general manager.

On where Dubai will play its home matches: “We will play our home games in Dubai, in the 17,000-seat Coca Cola Arena, at 3 p.m. local time. We do not expect to have the crowd of Partizan or Crvena Zvezda, but 90 percent of the residents of Dubai are foreigners. We’ll be able to compete with the other teams because they don’t always fill their palaces”.

On the budget: “We are not going to buy Mike James or Tavares…. We will be competitive, but with a modest budget. We have a business model. It is important for us to learn, to gain experience. That is our goal. To be competitive in Europe, we are not interested in winning the ABA League. By entering the ABA Liga, we have shown that we exist, that we are not just a rolling cloud out there. Dubai is five hours away from Belgrade, Zagreb, Ljubljana and so on. A lot of tourists leave from here, even teams. It’s one trip a season for them, but no one has asked how Dubai is going to be for those who have to travel all the time”.

Kamenasevic then revealed that they have already chosen who will be the coach of the Dubai team, but that he is currently under contract with a team and therefore cannot reveal the name.
